An Overview

During my internship with Launch Greensboro, I contributed to a wide range of projects, including business development, analyzing social media metrics, and creating visual designs for startup websites and apps. One project that stood out was among my first-ever design projects for a client: redesigning and enhancing the company's website.

As the company worked to build its audience pre-launch, it was critical that the redesign aligned with their branding while integrating elements to improve the user experience. This project not only sharpened my design skills but also taught me the importance of balancing creativity with strategic objectives to meet client and user needs effectively.

The Challenge

  • Revitalizing the Platform: The previous website (not pictured) lacked engagement and failed to effectively represent the company's vibrant identity and mission. It felt outdated and uninspiring, missing opportunities to captivate users.

The Solution

  • Utilizing Corporate Branding Everywhere: The company’s sunny yellows, bright blues, and bold fonts create a vibrant and recognizable identity. I aimed to incorporate these elements across every aspect of the website. My focus was on striking the right balance—showcasing the brand’s energy and personality without letting any element overpower the others.

Key Features

Reflection

Overall, I believe the redesign successfully aligned the UI with the vibrant energy the company embodies. One of the key achievements was creating both a light and dark mode, something I had never explored before in February 2024, which was a rewarding learning experience.

When presenting the redesign to the development and executive teams, they expressed satisfaction with the final result. Throughout the process, I made sure to gather continuous feedback and critique from them, ensuring the design was something they would not only appreciate but enjoy using.

Room for improvement

  • Research branding guidelines in depth to understand restrictions on altering another company's logo's appearance.
  • Redesign buttons to improve clarity and functionality while reducing excessive shadow usage for a cleaner look.
  • Completely revamp the "About Us" section to make it more engaging and informative.
  • Ensure non-interactive elements are visually distinct from interactive ones to reduce confusion.
